Interim sales manager
Interim sales manager for B2B SaaS
Your sales manager left, you never had one, or your permanent manager is out for a few months.
An interim sales manager picks up the baton: pipeline, deals, coaching, reporting. Day-one productive, no three-month ramp.
For B2B SaaS teams in the Netherlands, with experience from founder-led to scale-up sales.
What an interim sales manager does
Responsible for the team's commercial result during the engagement. Pipeline reviews, deal coaching, forecasting, and the rhythm that keeps the team delivering.
Unlike a fractional sales leader, an interim usually works (near) full-time for a defined period. Typically 3 to 9 months, often to bridge a gap or lead a transition.
Not a consultant who advises and leaves. Someone in the trenches with your team who puts the numbers on the board.
When this fits
- Your sales manager left and you need cover without waiting months
- You're in a transition, for example from founder-led to team-led sales
- You want a temporary hand on the wheel while you search for the right permanent hire
- You have a growth spurt or new market launch and the team could use a senior guide
When it doesn't fit
- You want someone for years, not a temporary solution
- You don't have a sales team yet, fractional leadership fits better
- You want someone purely for admin and CRM hygiene
First 90 days
Month 1
Handover and diagnosis. 1-on-1 with each rep, all open deals reviewed, pipeline hygiene restored.
Month 2
Rhythm and standard. Pipeline review, deal review, forecast call, weekly planning. Everyone knows what has to land each week.
Month 3
Results and prepare handover. Forecast holds, team works independently, and the permanent successor steps into a working structure.

Frequently asked
What's the difference between interim and fractional?
Interim is usually (near) full-time for a set period, to bridge a gap. Fractional is part-time and often ongoing, because the org can't justify a full-time role yet. Similar in substance, different in intensity and duration.
How quickly can you start?
Usually within 1 to 2 weeks of signing. No 3-month recruitment, no 6-week ramp.
Do you work remote or on-site?
Both. For sales coaching, 1 or 2 days a week on-site works best, the rest remote. Fully remote is possible but loses tempo when coaching junior reps.
What if we find a permanent hire during the engagement?
Then I hand over and shape the structure so the permanent manager can step in without losing months. That's usually the goal.
